Declan McMahon, the oldest son of Shane McMahon, has decided to leave Indiana University after completing two years with the college.  He posted the following message on his X account:

Thank you Indiana Football for all of the memories and people I have met along the way. I am forever thankful for the opportunity. With that being said I have officially entered the transfer portal with 3 years of eligibility remaining.

It was on March 26, 2022 that he announced he had visited IU and met Coach Tom Allen, Coach Ryan Hansen, Coach Craig Johnson, Coach Cameron Josse, and Coach Aaron Wellman.  McMahon then announced on April 6 that he had committed to Indiana University.  Then on August 2 the Indiana NIL (Name, Image, and Likeness) Store announced that Declan had signed with them so fans could purchase his officially licensed merchandise.  On September he announced that his “locker room” was officially live at the Indiana NIL Store.

Declan, along with Carter Smith, was named Offensive Scout Team of the Week for Week 6 in 2022.  He was named Special Teams Scout Team of the Week for Week 1 in 2023.

When WWE brought its Fastlane premium live event to Gainbridge Fieldhouse last year, Declan and members of the IU Hoosiers Football team attended the PLE and laying on Declan’s left shoulder was a championship spinner belt with the IU logo as the center plate.  A video about the origin of the IU Takeaway Belt was released a few days later.

WU Online would make history in October 2023 when Michael Weaver, Jr. would interview the running back as we were the first wrestling news site to interview him.  During the interview, he spoke about what the true meaning was behind his “Born for this” pictures, the IU Takeaway Belt, if he has any aspirations to play for the NFL, whether he preferred “mustache” or “non-mustache” Vince McMahon, and more.
