GREENFIELD, Indiana, May 6, 2024 – With the recent release of his autobiography Sitting Ringside, Volume 1, respected and fan favorite ring announcer David Penzer sat down with WU Online’s Michael Weaver, Jr. for a nearly one-hour exclusive interview. Mr. Penzer spoke on a variety of topics.

You can watch the interview below:

Here are some highlights from the nearly one-hour exclusive interview:

DAVID PENZER ON BECOMING A RING ANNOUNCER FOR WCW…
I’d like to say that I won by default, cause I was already going up there every week anyway and doing stuff. It was terrifying going out there because, I kept telling everybody that I was a ring announcer and if I couldn’t do what I said what I could, all this driving up every week, for booking fees and stuff, didn’t make sense.

DAVID PENZER ON IF THERE WERE PLANS ON HIM JOINING THE WWF AFTER WCW WAS PURCHASED IN 2001…
I did meet with Jim Ross, after the company was sold, in a hotel in Marietta. He did say at the time the plan was for WCW to be a separate brand and if and when it became that, if they went forward with that, they wanted me to be the ring announcer.

THE FIRST THING THAT COMES TO MIND WHEN DAVID HEARS THE NAME “VINCE RUSSO”…
Not good at what he did. That’s nothing personal.

For an hour, Mr. Penzer talked openly and candidly about World Championship Wrestling, The Monday Night Wars, Vince McMahon, and a lot more. You can watch the entire interview by visiting https://youtu.be/2mhqPjX_kz0.
